The species of plant in the rainforest are abundant, which covers more than half of the world's plant types. The abundance of plants is owing to the location of rainforest. Locating in tropical regions makes it easy for plants to get more light and heat, which offers the plants more energy and helps them thrive. So there are 170,000 of the world's 250,000 known plant species in the rainforest. These plants are critical, not only to the animals that inhabit forest but also to humans throughout the world.

On one hand, the plants offer us a lot of things to eat and a lot of things to use. The population of human is increasing, so we need more foods. The foods which are supplied by the rainforest can solve the problem of food shortage to some extent. In addition, the plants also offer us with wood, which can be made into firewood and wood pulp for paper. Besides, some plants also can serve as alternative medicines, such as Cat's Claw, Cinchona Tree and Periwinkle.

On the other hand, the plants provide the earth with much of the world's oxygen. Firstly, oxygen is indispensable for animals, including our human beings. Without oxygen, we can't breathe and we can't survive. While the plants offer us with adequate oxygen through photosynthesis. Secondly, oxygen is the basic element of the earth atmosphere. Absorption of carbon dioxide and production of oxygen keep the earth's ecosystem in balance.

The existence of rainforest plants is significant. So it is necessary to try our best to protect them!
